Why do founders look at Uzbekistan?
IT Park, the country’s technology park, actively promotes Uzbekistan as an outsourcing hub through outsource.gov.uz, with help for company setup and an IT visa. Teams work in Uzbek and Russian, and many work in English; confirm the English of the people you will speak with every week, not only the sales contact. The country runs on UTC+5 all year, with no daylight saving time.
What does IT Park residency change?
IT Park lists the headline terms for residents as 0% corporate tax, 0% unified social payments and 7.5% personal income tax for employees. Decree UP-5099 sets the exemption until 1 January 2028. Decree UP-157 of October 2024 extends the benefits from 2028 to 2040 only for residents whose exports exceed 50% of their income, and excludes VAT from that extension. Residents also pay IT Park 1% of their total income. Treat these as context, not tax advice.
What residency does not tell you
Residency is a tax and registration status. It says nothing about product judgment, code quality or whether the team has shipped something like your product. You can check a company against IT Park’s official resident directory, then evaluate the work itself.
How do you make the time difference work?
At UTC+5, a 9:00–18:00 day in Uzbekistan overlaps the morning and early afternoon in Central Europe, most of the working day in the Gulf, and very little of the US working day. Agree on two or three shared hours, keep decisions in writing, and hold a weekly demo of working software rather than a status call.
What should the contract cover?
Name the currency and who carries exchange-rate risk. Assign intellectual property and source code to your company on payment. Register store accounts, domains and cloud services in your company’s name. Define acceptance by behavior, how changes are priced, what handover includes, the support period, and how either side can end the engagement. Use a lawyer familiar with cross-border contracts in Uzbekistan for the final text.
How do you evaluate a studio?
Open the products they have shipped and ask exactly what the team did on each. Meet the people who will do the work. Start with a small paid phase—a scope, a prototype or a technical review—before committing the whole budget. A good partner will tell you which parts of your plan are risky before they quote.
